Republican Chris Christie admits mistakes in dealing with Coronavorus

The US Republican Chris Christie, who could have contracted the novel corona virus in the White House and was seriously ill, has admitted errors in dealing with the virus.

During his seven days in intensive care he had time to think, Christie told the New York Times.

It was a mistake, among other things, not to have worn a mask at an event in the White House - with Amy Coney Barrett, who want to appeal the Republicans to the Supreme Court - at the end of September.

He assumed that he was in a "safe zone" there.

"I was wrong."

Christie's infection became known after US President Donald Trump's in early October.

He had previously also helped Trump prepare for the TV debate against Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

After the debate and the White House event, several people around the President had tested positive.

Christie, ex-New Jersey governor, warned not to take the virus lightly.

"It's something you have to take very seriously," he said, calling on people in public office to campaign for Americans to wear masks in public, maintain social distance and wash their hands frequently.

"Nobody should be happy to catch the virus and nobody should be haughty about being infected or infecting others."

After his Covid 19 illness, the US president declared himself immune and said that his illness was "God's blessing".

Because as a result, Trump explained in a video, he became aware of the antibody treatment.

"I call it a cure," said Trump, who in addition to medicines that were not available to ordinary citizens, also had several top doctors available around the clock.

He announced that all Americans should receive the same treatment as him.
