Amidst the world’s preoccupation with many events that have accelerated their rhythm at the international level during the last months of this year, most notably the response to the spread of the Corona epidemic, the Israeli occupation authorities are continuing to devote colonial Judaization and annexation schemes, taking advantage of an American bias that traveled and suspicious silence for the international community by announcing new plans to establish thousands of settlement units In the West Bank, striking the wall with UN resolutions.

The pace of announcing new settlement plans is accelerating daily, as the occupation authorities announced during the past 48 hours the establishment of 5,237 new settlement units in separate parts of the West Bank in addition to the establishment of 500 settlement units in Bethlehem, bringing the number of units announced within three days to More than 5,700 settlement units.

The Palestinian presidency pointed out, through its spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeinah, that the new occupation settlement plans in the West Bank are a flagrant violation of international law, especially Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegality of settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories, noting that the occupation exploits the unlimited support of the American administration and the silence of the international community And his preoccupation with addressing the Coronavirus pandemic, to go ahead with his settlement plans and theft of Palestinian land.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in turn, condemned these plans, stressing that they constitute a new violation that is added to the series of violations and systematic crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people and falls under the so-called “deal of the century” aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause. It also called, through its permanent representative to the United Nations, Riad Mansour, the international community to bear His responsibilities and stopping the settlement occupation plans.

For its part, the United Nations demanded, through its Special Coordinator Nikolay Mladenov, an immediate halt to the occupation plans to establish thousands of settlement units in the West Bank, pointing out that it is a flagrant violation of international law and international covenants that undermine the chances of establishing the Palestinian state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.

In the same context, five European countries condemned today the settlement plans of the occupation entity and demanded it to stop them immediately, as the foreign ministers of Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Spain confirmed that the expansion of settlements constitutes a violation of international law and increasingly threatens the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state, while the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union called Josep Borrell, to stop the demolition and seizure of Palestinian homes.

The new settlement plans come as a continuation of the all-out war waged by the occupation entity against the Palestinian presence and in implementation of the so-called “deal of the century” the ill-fated “deal of the century” for colonial settlement legislation and the Judaization of occupied Jerusalem. The number of settlement outposts announced during the current year has exceeded 12,000 outposts in the West Bank, with absolute American support and bias, and an international inability to hold the occupation accountable and stop its settlement activities.
