Amman - Sana

The Palestinian National Council called on the International Criminal Court to expedite taking the necessary measures to open an investigation into the continuing Israeli occupation crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Wafa Agency, National Assembly Chairman Salim Al-Zanoun explained in a statement today that the occupying power continues its colonial settlement plans in Palestine, the most recent of which was the announcement of the establishment of 5,000 new settlement units in the West Bank, amounting to war crimes and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Al-Zanoun stressed that the immediate directness of the International Criminal Court to consider the settlement crime alone can stop it in light of the lack of accountability in the UN Security Council and the violation of its decisions on settlements, the last of which was Resolution 2334, which called for its cessation and considered all settlement plans invalid.

Al-Zanoun called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities, implement and defend its decisions, and hold Israel accountable for its crimes, especially the settlement crime, calling at the same time parliamentary unions and parliaments of the world to announce their positions and condemn this crime and the need to take measures to ensure that the occupation authorities comply with international charters and decisions.
