Minutes before the draw for the new championship organized by the Professional Football League, the clubs that make up the brand new body, now under the orbit of the AFA, decided by majority to unilaterally break part of the contract for the exploitation of television rights and dispense with the services of the Fox Sports network.

As

Clarín was

able to find out

, 20 of the 24 representatives of the clubs voted in favor of the dissolution of the bond.

The leaders of River, Boca and Estudiantes de La Plata did not participate in the discussion, while Talleres de Córdoba requested a debate that finally did not take place.

The reason that led the AFA and the Professional Soccer League to make the determination to unilaterally break the contract is that Fox Sports Latin America did not officially report its merger with ESPN after being acquired by the Disney group.

Now, in case the rupture advances in the legal field, the Argentine soccer leaders will have to look for a new screen to show their product to accompany Turner, who is the owner of the other 50 percent of the audiovisual rights within of Argentina.

As stipulated in the current contract, Turner will have the priority to get the total of the package.

Otherwise, they will have to open a tender to add new screens that serve as a showcase for Argentine soccer.

Turner and Fox Sports had acquired the rights to televise Argentine football within the national territory in 2017 and took the reins after the extinction of the program Fútbol Para Todos, which had brought the First Division and National B championships to the open screen. .
