The mere listing of the insults inflicted on Germany by Donald Trump since his arrival at the White House is enough to suggest that Berlin does not want his re-election.
The American president threatened to impose customs duties on German car manufacturers, sanctioned the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline which plans to supply Germany with Russian gas, called into question the rules of international trade which have until then allowed to ensure the prosperity of the national industry.
In blunt terms, he accused his partner of not contributing enough to NATO's budgetary efforts.
Worse, he announced the withdrawal of some of the American troops stationed in the country since the end of the war, an essential element of the country's security.
"The Germans are bad, very bad",
had launched Donald Trump before a G 7 in January 2017.
Never since the invasion of Iraq led by George Bush in 2003 has the country's image been so degraded in public opinion
