In the first section, the River Rats were clearly on the trigger and, according to their coach, should have led with six or seven goals.
But instead they built up the home side, who thanked Josef Reiter (11th) with a 3-1 advantage.
The second section was evenly balanced with slight advantages for the ESC, who came up to 2: 3 through Dominic Fuchs (22nd).
The Schongauer 4: 2 by Kevin Steiner at the beginning of the final third only shocked Geretsrieder briefly.
However, it took until the 57th minute before Reiter again made it 3: 4.
And just 16 seconds later Stefano Rizzo put the 4: 4 on it.
In overtime it took only 14 seconds until Florian Strobl made everything clear with the 5: 4.
