He has not had the party book for that long, but already has an important task: Benedikt Schlichte will head the Garmisch-Partenkirchner SPD local association.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- The constant nagging and whining annoyed him.

Benedikt Schlichte always heard from friends and acquaintances that “everything is bad”.

But nobody did anything to change this situation.

“Nobody wanted to get involved,” says the 32-year-old.

The Playstation is more important than the commitment to society.

Not for him.

He would like to confront the growing disenchantment with politics in the district, joined the SPD local association Garmisch-Partenkirchen and now slipped into a responsible role.

The police officer in Wolfratshausen, who worked a lot at a young age - among other things as a postman and as a restaurant specialist - and later graduated from secondary school, replaced chairwoman Ulrike Bittner-Wolff at the head of the annual general meeting in the Kurpark pavilion.

The members present elected him unanimously.

The 32-year-old, who has not held the Red Party book in his hands for very long, is looking forward to his new task: "I've always sympathized with the SPD, now I want to help," he emphasized to applause.

Much praise for her predecessor Ulrike Bittner-Wolff

Schlichte Mechthild Morhart and parliamentary group chairman Michael Simon, who has been a member of the local association for 15 years and was honored at the meeting together with four other long-serving comrades - Alois Schwarzmüller, Birgitt Grill, Alfred Heinle and Anton Frischmann - are standing by as deputies.

There was much praise for Bittner-Wolff, who refused to run for office.

Dr.

Sigrid Meierhofer, who had been replaced by Elisabeth Koch (CSU) after six years as the town hall chief of Garmisch-Partenkirchen this year, described the outgoing chairwoman as the “driving force” in the election campaign.

“You had an overview, got everything possible and impossible on the way and kept the shop together.” The former mayor knows that the decision to succeed Schwarzmüller in the local council was not an easy one for the administrative lawyer.

The SPD grand seigneur resigned in August for health reasons.

However, Meierhofer was thoroughly convinced that Bittner-Wolff was irreplaceable for the work in the committee: “You will make sure that all arguments come to the table,” she emphasized.

"Even the unpopular ones."
