The former CDU general secretary Peter Tauber ended his political career.
In a letter to the members of his constituency, the current Secretary of State for Defense announced that he would no longer run for the federal election in 2021.
"After careful consideration, personal and family reasons prompted me to make this decision," says the letter that the German press agency has received and which the Funke media group first reported on.
"It is not just my health situation that plays a role, but also the idea of looking for and accepting new professional challenges," continues Tauber.
It is no secret that family means a lot to him and that he sees the center of his life in Gelnhausen in Hesse.
"In the long run, the task in Berlin is detrimental."
