Why is the premium more expensive? Most of the working environment in the recycling industry is cramped and slippery. Workers often move large amounts of heavy and large recycled materials. They also need to use machinery and equipment, such as paper presses, metal compressors, and balers. Therefore, there is a high work safety risk. If safety measures are not taken, accidents are likely to occur, which may result in high employee compensation premiums*. *The premium is also affected by other factors of the insured company, such as the number of employees, company size, type of work, etc.

(1) Start from reducing accidents

Improving the occupational safety and health level of the industry can not only reduce human lives and fatalities, but also have a good occupational safety and health record. It also helps insurers to more accurately assess risks and determine premium levels. In the long run, there is room for lower premiums, so that the recycling industry and insurance companies can achieve a win-win situation.

Common accident types in the recycling industry mainly include:

• Touching a moving machine or touching an object being manufactured by a machine;

• Collision with a fixed or immovable object; and

• Injury when lifting or carrying an object.

In order to avoid the above accidents, the following extracts some safety points for reference (if you want to develop a comprehensive and targeted risk assessment and preventive measures for related work procedures, you should refer to the relevant laws and relevant safety regulations of the Labour Department in detail):

(1) Main points of machine safety:

• Install effective guards for the dangerous parts of the machine, such as: fixed guards, interlocking guards, automatic guards, tactile guards or two-hand control devices;

• Install emergency stop switches in the event of an accident You can press it to stop the machine immediately; and

• Periodically inspect and properly maintain the machine and the guard to ensure its normal function.

(2) Key points of working environment safety:

• Provide enough lighting for the work place so that employees can see the surrounding environment clearly;

• Try to avoid stacking materials to prevent materials from collapsing; and

• Use the 5S concept of good workplace organization to manage the working environment to reduce collisions or slips between employees and objects Opportunity to stumble.

(3) Safety points for manual handling operations:

• A preliminary assessment of the risks posed by manual handling operations must be made.

If within the scope of reasonable and practicable, it is impossible to prevent employees from carrying out dangerous manual handling operations, the person in charge shall make further assessment of the danger; provide relevant work instructions and auxiliary equipment based on the assessment results, such as two people working together to carry and use Trolleys or forklifts, etc.;

• Check the transportation route before moving heavy objects to prevent tripping, slipping or other accidents; and

• Use correct methods to lift or carry heavy objects, such as keeping your back straight, Avoid using waist strength and not twisting the waist.

(4) Important points of lifting safety:

• When lifting materials, cranes, lifting devices, rigging assembly methods, etc. must be selected according to people, machines, objects, methods, etc., and must be carried out by personnel with sufficient training and experience. Crane operators must have labor A valid training certificate recognized by the Department;

• The crane should be tested and thoroughly inspected by a qualified registered engineer, and checked by a qualified operator (e.g., operator) before use, and spreaders (such as chains, cables, etc.) should be inspected by qualified The slinger inspects every six months and is checked by the slinger before use; and

• The qualified slinger uses suitable spreaders to embed the code correctly, and strictly abides by the requirements of safe operating loads, and carries out "3-3-3" before lifting. Trial hang:

i. All personnel should be at least "3" meters away from the load:

ii. Lift the load "3" 100mm from the ground:

iii. Maintain "3" seconds to confirm that the load is stable before lifting.

(5) Key points of forklift safety:

• Forklift operators should hold a valid forklift operation training certificate issued by a training organization recognized by the Labour Department;

• When driving a forklift, they should pay attention to the surrounding environment and drive at a safe speed. Do not drive with high forks or make high-speed turns. Risk of overturning; and

• The cargo carried must not exceed the load capacity of the forklift.
