Fauci is not surprised that Trump was infected
By Paul LeBlanc
Dr. Anthony Fauci said he is not "absolutely surprised" that President Donald Trump contracted COVID-19 after seeing him surrounded by people who did not wear face masks and disregarding best public health practices.
Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, said during an interview on CBS's "60 Minutes" that aired on Sunday: "I was worried he would get sick when I saw him in a completely precarious situation of overcrowding, no separation between people and hardly anyone wore a mask. '
“When I saw that on TV, I was like, 'Oh my God.
Nothing good can come of that, that has to be a problem, '"he continued.
"And then it did indeed turn out to be a super-spreading event."
Fauci appeared to be referencing the event in the Rose Garden where Trump announced that Justice Amy Coney Barrett was his choice to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.
At least 12 people tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the event on September 26.
