The Minister of the Interior drew up an initial assessment of the curfew, in force since Saturday in several French cities, welcoming
"French people listening to the sanitary conditions that the President of the Republic wanted".

12,000 police and gendarmes have thus patrolled every day since the implementation of this curfew.
They carried out 19,300 checks,
"checks of citizens but also of establishments"
, and proceeded to 3019 verbalizations, specified Gérald Darmanin.

This proves both that the gendarmerie and the police are there, I thank the police, and that the French are listening,”
added the minister.
The curfew began on Saturday in the 8 departments of Île-de-France, including Paris, as well as in Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Aix-Marseille, Saint-Etienne, Rouen, Montpellier and Toulouse and, for a minimum duration of four weeks.
Travel is prohibited from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on pain of a fine of € 135 and up to € 3,750 in the event of a repeat offense.
