A few hours apart, 35-year-old Najah Mansour from Kiryat Haim in Haifa and 67-year-old Irena Griban from Be'er Sheva were found lifeless today (Monday) in their apartments.

According to the suspect, they were both murdered by their spouses, who were arrested by the police.

These are the 16th and 17th women murdered in Israel since the beginning of the Corona crisis, with tens of thousands more still facing violence and fear every day.

Mansour, who was stabbed to death, is divorced and the mother of four children, living with her ex-husband.

A few months ago, she rented a ground floor apartment in one of the residential buildings on Degania Street in Kiryat Haim, close to the seafront.

Many neighbors knew her, and one of them said she was on good terms with the Zevulun police - and did not hesitate to call them when she felt threatened.

Indeed, she has complained several times in the past that her partner, a 28-year-old resident of the area, is harassing her and trying to extort money from her.

These cases are well known to the police, and her partner has even been arrested in the past and released.

She has previously complained to the police against her murder suspect partner.

Najah Mansour

"She had a very difficult life, full of problems," said one of the neighbors, who said that from time to time he and his friend would sit with her for a cup of coffee.

Apparently, she also suffers from violence in the home she left.

Her partner, who is suspected of murder, was found walking down the street without a mask on his face.

Patrol officers who were at the scene detained him because of this, and he aroused their suspicion.

According to a passerby, the police grabbed a knife from him and escorted him to Mansour's apartment, where they found her lying on the floor lifeless, with stab wounds to her upper body.

He was arrested and taken for questioning at the Zevulun station.

A few hours after Mansour's body was found in her apartment, another case was discovered about 200 kilometers away.

Gribenev, 67, was found lifeless with severe marks of assault on her body.

Preliminary investigation raises the suspicion that her partner murdered her with hammer blows, then tried to end his life.

Her partner was found standing on the roof of a building on Operation Fact Street in the city, threatening to end his life.

The police officers who were called to the scene evacuated him for medical treatment, and during the examination he said that he had harmed his partner.

The officers tried to call Gribenb, but without success.

After several attempts, the police located a relative who was holding the keys to the apartment, and when they arrived at the scene, they found her body lying on the floor and her death was determined on the spot.

Said on examination that he had harmed his partner.

One of Gribenb's neighbors, Gennady, said disputes had arisen between her and her partner recently.

"He had heart disease, underwent treatments, and did not feel well. He stopped working as a guard, but she wanted him back to work," he said.

"They haven't gotten along lately, and he told me about what happened and said he was looking for an apartment to move into. He even wanted to move in with me."

Gennady even described that he felt that Gribenb's partner was in a bad situation, but did not suspect anything.

"Yesterday I saw him in the stairwell, I realized he was not feeling well," he said.

"He behaved strangely, barely spoke and moved. Like a ghost, disconnected. I felt unhealthy, but I did not suspect anything."

Other neighbors in Gribban's apartment building said she always came to their aid, and did not believe it when they heard about the case.

"I did not imagine that this would happen, I am in shock. There were no shouts, I have never heard fights, I am just in shock," added one of the neighbors.
