The corona virus has brought with it quite a few health, economic troubles and what not.

On the other hand, he is also responsible for quite a few exciting social enterprises that have begun here in Israel, a variety of private initiatives that have gained momentum and become increasingly viral in light of the number of people seeking to volunteer, and unfortunately also those who have become needy.

A particularly sweet and nice venture is "Shabbat Cake", in which close to a thousand cakes are sent every weekend to anyone who needs and desires every weekend.

Israela Dagan, 33, married to Adi and mother Larry and Alex, is responsible for the wonderful initiative.

"I always knew I would want, at some point in my life, to spend my time giving to others. I just did not know how much, how and when. I was waiting for the right time."

Dagan does not work in the culinary world as a profession, but like the rest of us, an amateur baker and comes from the world of marketing in general.

"I set up the venture in the first closure in the area in May. It started with the fact that like everyone else, we were stuck at home and in the kitchen and I started baking and handing out to friends in isolation, giving birth to a child and more. "Good for them, so I posted my idea on Facebook. I wrote 'what if everyone could bring a cake to someone who needs it and sweeten the Sabbath for them'"

"I did not really know what would happen, but the reactions were enthusiastic," she continues.

"In less than a day, thanks to the same post, no less than 12 cakes were baked and distributed. It was in May, today we are putting out more or less 1,000 cakes all over the country. All the delicious products reach a very wide range of populations. Shelters for battered, elderly women Individuals, youth at risk, hostels, low-income families and more. "

From here, Dagan says, the project gained momentum: "It just went by word of mouth, went viral. Some bloggers posted it on Instagram and we gained a lot of new followers and 'fans'. The circle grew, both of the volunteers and those who asked us for cakes, people Who were in a bad economic situation following the corona. "

"It's a project that gives a lot of power," she concludes.

It is not only the cake that arrives, delicious as it may be, but also the note or letter that comes with it to the recipient, the warm words written by the volunteer who inhaled the cake.

It excites all parties every time again.

The seniors wait for the cake every weekend also because they are happy to be visited, even calling with concern if they accidentally missed.

This whole thing is really stunning and warms my heart. "
