Trump team already considers next TV duel to be unfair

The set topics for the last TV duel before the election apparently do not suit the US president. Before the debate, he reviled the moderator as a "radical left democrat".

Before the last TV debate on the US presidential election, incumbent Donald Trump's campaign team sharply criticized the organizers.

Campaign advisor Jason Miller accused the Debate Commission in a phone call with journalists of "persistent electoral influence" in favor of Trump challenger Joe Biden.

The final pre-election debate is traditionally about foreign policy, Miller said.

At the TV duel this Thursday evening (local time) in Nashville, Tennessee, it is not the focus.

"We believe this is at the request of the Biden campaign team."

Miller said ex-Vice President Biden did not want to be confronted in the debate with his previous support for "endless wars" or his son Hunter Biden's questionable overseas deals.

"It is clear that the Biden camp does not want to talk about foreign policy."

It was also heard that the rules for the debate should possibly be changed.

After the first debate in late September - which slipped into chaos mainly because of Trump's constant interruptions - the commission announced changes but did not publish any details.

Trump has refused to change the rules.

Republican Trump railed against the presenter of the debate on Thursday, NBC journalist Kristen Welker, during an election freeze in Phoenix, Arizona.

She is a "radical left democrat".

According to the Debate Commission, the six topics selected by Welker include the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and national security.

The second debate, which was scheduled for October 15, was canceled after Trump fell ill with Covid-19.

The organizers wanted to hold the debate online instead of bringing the candidates together in one room.

Trump then canceled his participation.

Biden (77) and Trump (74) appeared on two different TV channels at the same time that evening to ask questions from voters.
