The Ministry of Health provides early detection services for breast cancer through reproductive health clinics in 943 health centers distributed in the various governorates, where the services include the awareness aspect, education and teaching of the self-examination mechanism, or clinical diagnostic examinations conducted by a specialized medical staff, according to the head of the reproductive health department in the ministry, Dr. Reem Dahman.
Dahman indicated in a statement to SANA that the Ministry provides early detection services throughout the year in its hospitals and health centers through an echo or mammogram (mammogram) or CT scan according to age and symptoms, indicating that there are 36 breast mammogram devices in various health centers.
Dr. Dahman noted the importance of the activities and events that take place during the month of October of each year as it is the International Month of Awareness for Early Detection of Breast Cancer “The Pink Month”, as it contributes to raising community awareness by conducting periodic examinations for early detection of its role in determining the duration of treatment and raising the rate of recovery.
It is noteworthy that breast cancer is one of the most common and most dangerous types of cancer in women and in Syria, last year 2063 new cases were diagnosed in women and 103 injuries in men, and the probability of infection increases if there is a first-degree relative with breast cancer or ovarian cancer and the lifestyle is not Health, aging, smoking, weight gain and obesity.
