He is known as the singer of the Bananafishbones.

Sebastian Horn has now been awarded the honorary prize of the Hochland youth settlement in Königsdorf.

Königsdorf

- his wife Christiane was at his side, two of the five children they shared, mom, brother Peter and a few other musical companions had come with them.

Sebastian Horn wore a bright pink T-shirt, but despite the casual outfit, in the end he was above all one thing: deeply moved.

No wonder.

The eulogies and the song composed especially for him by Sepp Kloiber describe the most wonderful life and work of the 49-year-old singer and bassist from Lenggries.

Horn was awarded the honorary prize of the Hochland Königsdorf youth settlement yesterday, Sunday.

The award winner is in good company

The prize has been awarded since 2012 and has already gone to Alois Glück, Franz Xaver Gernstl, Claudia Koreck and Susanne Breit-Keßler, among others.

Josef Birzele, chairman of the sponsorship group of the youth education center, called Sebastian Horn, singer of the band Bananafishbones and the formation Dreiviertelblut, film music composer and moderator, a “regionally firmly rooted and down-to-earth musician”.

With his unmistakable voice he communicates values, attitudes towards life and feelings in an impressive way.

His clear demeanor and lifestyle showed that he was ready to help shape society.

He is a role model for the youth.

Laudator Norbert Weinhuber, former Tölzer school councilor and folk singer, characterized the honoree with very personal words.

Starting with his not always easy childhood as a baby boy, the even more difficult youth in which he had to cope with the death of his first girlfriend, to the founding of the legendary Bananafishbones in 1987 and the duo Dreiviertelblut together with Gerd Baumann in 2012, via the Marcus H. Rosenmüller recently even made a movie ("Three Quarter Blood - Space Tourists").

“There is no luck on demand.

It is a present."

Sebastian Horn's motto in life

But money and commerce meant nothing to the youngest of four brothers who grew up in Greiling, Weinhuber said.

He much prefers to jump into ice-cold pools, run through the forest, catch fish with his five children and collect mushrooms.

The 49-year-old, who used to be prone to depression, now lives according to the motto “happiness is not available on demand.

It is a present."

The Lenggries musician Sepp Kloiber also addressed light and shadow in Sebastian Horn's life in his song, accompanied by Martin Regnat.

He sang about "Damischen walking in the night" (to explain: Horn is sleepwalker) and a time with "vui raach and alcohol", but also about the intensive engagement of the award winner with the philosophers and the botany study of the nature lover.

Sebastian Horn also supports "Fridays for Future"

As a fan from the very beginning, Vicky Hofherr, then 16, remembered all the "Easy Days" that she and her friends had spent with the Fishbones hits - whether at the Hillside Festival or the open-air concerts on Tölzer Marktstrasse.

Because Sebastian Horn supports the “Fridays for Future” movement, four representatives of the Tölzer local group were invited to the award ceremony.

Sarina Haushofer took the opportunity to speak combative about the goals of the young people

Josef Birzele and Klaus Schultz, chairmen of the Hochland youth settlement, finally presented the honorary award, which is not endowed.

“Respect values, live community and give support”, it says on the certificate.

He accepted the award on behalf of everyone who was in the hall today, said Horn: “Family and friends”, “Fridays for Future”, the laudators and those responsible in the youth education center.

“I never thought that I could be a role model in such a form,” said the 2020 award winner modestly.

An apple tree as a gift for the garden

The youth settlement did not want to let him go without a gift.

The family got an apple tree for the garden.

The ceremony ended with a vegetarian celery roast with dumplings and red cabbage.
