History repeats itself and, once again, with a tragic ending.
A Federal Police officer and a passenger
died in the last hours victims of an attempted robbery and shooting
above a bus in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Barracas.
The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. on Monday on Vieytes Street, between Quinquela Martín and Suárez, in the City of Buenos Aires.
There, according to police sources,
two men boarded a unit on line 100 for theft.
According to the description made by the bus driver, one of the thieves goes to the back of the vehicle while the other extracts a firearm, at which point the uniformed man, identified as Pablo Esteban Lagos, gets up from the seat and calls out High.
There, while the criminal who was in the front sector of the unit points at a passenger, the other fires two shots at the uniformed man, after which they get off the bus and flee.
Immediately, the people who were above the unit noticed that, in addition to the officer, two other passengers were wounded by gunshots, for which they are transferred to the Argerich hospital.
Finally, after 1 in the morning, the death of the police officer, who had been admitted to the Churruca hospital, and one of the passengers was reported.
The other was shot in one of his feet and is out of danger.
Thefts in buses have become commonplace in recent months.
The most recent event occurred last week in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Lugano.
There, a robbery attempt ended with a shooting and a 15-year-old criminal killed.
The incident began around 11 at night when two men, aged 15 and 32, got into the unit at the corner of Albariño and Riestra and, armed, began to steal the belongings of the four passengers who were there.
Subsequently, they forced the bus driver at gunpoint to divert his route so that he first entered the Miralla street cut and then took Ozanam street that leads to the intersection of the Belgrano Sur tracks and then to a settlement where they would come to the escape after theft.
One of the four people aboard the 47 was an officer of the City Police, who was in civilian clothes and called out the criminals.
At that moment, always according to official information, the two criminals pounced on the agent, who fired two shots: one hit the windshield and the other hit one of the thieves.
