The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, renewed his call for the lifting of sanctions that would impede countries in combating the emerging corona virus.
Sputnik reported that Guterres, during the meeting of the UN Security Council today, praised the efforts of countries that are working to drop any sanctions that may negatively affect access to humanitarian and vital medical aid in this epidemic.
"I was excited when several Gulf states expressed their support for my global call for a ceasefire and sent humanitarian aid to countries affected by the Coronavirus," Guterres said.
Last March, Syria, Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela and the DPRK called for the lifting of all sanctions to combat the Corona virus.
