(CNN Spanish) -

Luis Arce, winner of the Bolivian presidential election, says that former President Evo Morales is the historic leader of his movement but that there are no plans for now to include him in the cabinet.

Arce told Carmen Aristegui that his government is not going to open new processes in existing corruption cases and explained his position on the cases that he, Morales and other members of the Movement for Socialism face, the party that returns to power after the interim of Jeanine Áñez.

The return of Evo Morales

“For all of us it is absolutely clear that Evo Morales is our historical leader who has generated this entire process of change in the country and currently he is president of the instrument, of the Movement to Socialism, so when he will surely return when he decides to do so to fulfill the functions of the MAS president and in the government, while I understand that he is going to have to respond first to all the judicial problems that he is facing, we do not plan to include him in the cabinet or in the executive part, "said Arce.

Was it a mistake on the part of Evo Morales to re-title himself as president last year?

“He was very restrictive in saying that it was a mistake, right?

The issue of re-registration, ”said the winning candidate.

"And we believe that we agree with his self-criticism that it was a mistake and well, now it remains for us to give continuity to the entire process with the majority and popular support that we have received in Bolivia."

What the government of Arce with the opposition and with the legal processes

“Many processes are already open, corruption trials on the issue of Senkata, Sacaba, in short, there are many trials that are already open.

The national government is not going to open new processes in this regard, ”said Arce.

“There are many lawsuits that have not only been opened to comrade Evo but also to myself and to other social and union leaders and of the Movement for Socialism.

There are many lawsuits that we all have to do is defend ourselves in the corresponding legal instances, all including comrade Evo, "he said.

“There, the only thing that must be guaranteed in justice is that due process is observed, that there are no excesses as we have seen that during this government there has been in justice.

We would hope that this will gradually improve in the sense that the current legal regulations are strictly complied with and, in this way, adequate trials are guaranteed ”.

Opposition proposals in the campaign

"In this electoral campaign it has been possible to show that the only political party that came out to propose was the Movement for Socialism," he said.

«We had our government program, we have our strategy to get out of the crisis, which we have raised with the Bolivian people throughout the campaign and the right-wing parties that were in opposition that participated in the coup d'état last year. The only thing they did was refer to hate topics, which Evo Morales did 14 years ago.

Unfortunately, that hatred became part of the government program of the right-wing parties when the population needs proposals to get out of the deep crisis that the country is experiencing… ”.
