2020-10-20T02:58:25.058Z

LaLiga will not hold events open to the public in Mexico on the occasion of the Classic between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Saturday, October 24.

The first Spanish Classic of the COVID-19 era arrives.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet on October 24 at the Camp Nou in the framework of matchday 7 of the 2020-2021 LaLiga season;

the first Clásico in a pandemic and without an audience in the stands.

In celebration of the meeting, LaLiga will organize more than 100 activations in 40 countries, but most will be closed to the public.

In Mexico, the association will not be able to replicate the successful 'fan-fest' that brought together more than 7,000 fans in Campo Marte on March 1, 2020, date of the most recent Classic, in which the merengues won 2-0.

The Mexican fans will still have to wait to enjoy a massive event sponsored by LaLiga, which chooses to wait for the health emergency to subside.

"We are being very cautious due to the situation. We are working together with the health authorities. We want to know how many people we can put in which places. This will happen when economies are reactivated, when there is a vaccine and a peace of mind to congregate thousands of We will always go hand in hand with the authorities, with very strict security protocols, "

said AS Nuño Pérez Pla, director of the LaLiga office in Mexico and the Caribbean, in a video-press conference.

The events that the employers have prepared in the country will be private and will feature a handful of special guests.

"They will be very institutional. There are still many restrictions in restaurants and in closed places in Mexico City,"

said Pérez Pla.

"El Clásico is still the best game in the world"

'El Clásico' from the 90th LaLiga season will be the first in history to be played behind closed doors.

However, the interest that arouses will not wane, considers Pérez Pla

,

even in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who terminated his contract with Real Madrid in July 2018.

"We continue to have great stars who have made their way in world football. People continue with the same desire to see the game. As much as Cristiano has left, and that Messi (from Barcelona) will eventually do so, 'El Clásico' follows the best game in the world, "

confirmed the LaLiga director in Mexico.
