light rail?
No.
From today the name is Dankel.
This was announced by the Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev.
It also announced the acceleration of works for the construction of the light rail in Gush Dan, although the opening of the red line has already been postponed to October 2022.
Minister Regev toured the light rail operations center and participated in a test drive to the Mother Colonies portal and from there in a tunnel to the Mother Colonies station, whose construction is nearing completion.
"We will not tolerate further delays in the schedules, and we will not show understanding for further postponement - this is public money and we have a heavy responsibility," she said during the tour.
Nata CEO Haim Glick has pledged to do everything possible to meet the schedules and promised that the train will start test trips in the Petah Tikva area as early as next year.
The tour was accompanied by Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg, who said: "Petah Tikva is on its way to becoming the strongest and most significant metropolis in the country, and there is no doubt that light rail activities in the coming years will be a key pillar in achieving the goal."
The 24 km long line, 12 of them underground, will connect Bat Yam to Petah Tikva via Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Bnei Brak. The train is expected to be 6 minutes from Abba Hillel station in Ramat Gan to Carlebach in Tel Aviv, 6 minutes from Ben Gurion in Bnei Barak Shaul HaMelech in Tel Aviv and 9 minutes from Bialik in Ramat Gan to Beilinson in Petah Tikva.
