", after the attack carried out by a young man Russian of Chechen origin, the Elysee said.

," wrote the Elysee in a press release without further details.
Putin's condolences
For its part, the Russian presidency indicated that, during a telephone call, Vladimir Poutine had "
sent his condolences on the subject of the terrorist attack of October 16 in the suburbs of Paris, the barbaric murder of a French professor
" .
“
In this context, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in stepping up joint efforts to combat terrorism and the spread of extremist ideology
,” the Kremlin added.

On Saturday, the Russian Embassy in Paris stressed that the 18-year-old Chechen assailant, accused of having beheaded Samuel Paty, had no longer any links with Moscow since 2008. “
This crime has nothing to do with the Russia, given that this individual had lived in France for 12 years and had been received by the French side,
”the embassy quoted by the Tass agency noted.
She also pointed out that the alleged assailant who was killed, Abdullakh Anzorov, arrived in France at the age of 6 with all his family who had obtained refugee status, automatically leading to a deprivation of Russian nationality.
For his part, Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov condemned the attack on Saturday and offered his condolences to the teacher's family, while calling on France not to "
provoke
" Muslims.
Ramzan Kadyrov had argued that Abdullakh Anzorov was raised in France and only visited Chechnya once, when he was two years old.
