A source in the Ministry of Education today (Tuesday) sharply criticized the Ministry of Health's conduct in trying to get the outline back to school in first and second grades, and claimed that in his office they chased for a week to summarize a logical outline.

He said that his office's attempt to integrate studies from home and schools - is not applicable.

"From Sunday we are trying to agree with the Ministry of Health on a logical outline for opening the classrooms and each time we received different answers," the source said, referring to the disagreements reached by the parties regarding the opening of first and second grades in elementary schools.

According to him, since July, the Ministry of Education has proposed that first- and second-graders study in capsules, and the Ministry of Health announced that there is no need to make a division because this will not lead to an increase in morbidity.

"So we came up with a plan that cost four billion shekels and no more. The plan went through approvals for three weeks. The government approved it unanimously along with all the experts. Since then the ministry's response has changed from moment to moment and we do not understand if it is a planned process of the ministry."

The dispute between the ministries on the issue today led to the postponement of the planned cabinet meeting.

The Ministry of Education proposed that first and second grades return to school in a model of half-grades, in the format of a week from school and a week in distance learning.

The Ministry of Health, on the other hand, demanded that the lower grades be returned in capsules.

However, it was not decided what would happen to those children who would stay at home for a week, as this would require additional funds to recruit teachers.

The Ministry of Education initially agreed to the Ministry of Health's requirement, but estimated that it would take about five weeks to implement it due to lack of time and resources.

In practice, the duration of such a move, which costs six billion shekels, is eight weeks.

Following this, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, Amit Edri, proposed to start the studies in the lower grades in the format of half-grades immediately.
