The man, born in 1986, presented himself to the police.

He admitted to having had a Kalashnikov in hand, then to have been disarmed by his companion who also spontaneously surrendered to the authorities.

The latter's custody was lifted during the day.

In front of them, another individual had presented himself with a Scorpion machine gun and had fired at least once.

This individual, on the run, remains actively sought by the police.

, one of the three individuals was sentenced to two years in prison in 2016 for possession of arms and ammunition.

This incident had caused the temporary closure of the Franco-German border on Friday evening, in particular at the level of the Europe bridge which spans the Rhine between Strasbourg and the German border town of Kehl.

Train traffic had also been disrupted.
