Effective experiences in the field of agricultural work, documented by young people from the As-Suwayda governorate, through small projects that gave ripe fruits due to their ability to generate creative ideas that advance their livelihoods and support the foundations of life.

The production of organic fertilizer from red worms is an experiment that the young Taher Al-Ali started from the city of Sweida more than six months ago, as part of his endeavor to develop it and create an integrated farm for this production, indicating that his project idea meets the current need to expand the agricultural process in the country.

Al-Ali indicated to the youth of Sana that he had seen scientific research and the experience of people in Damascus in this regard, as he benefited from the information they had and began to apply his experience after purchasing three thousand worms, as he provided the appropriate medium for their multiplication through basins while securing the necessary food for them from animal excreta, supplements, household food waste, and others.

He added, through the secretions of the worm, clean organic fertilizer is produced, so that every kilo of worms produces a quarter of a kilogram of fertilizer per day, in addition to the possibility of extracting a fungicide and insecticide after oxygenating the organic matter.

According to Al-Ali, the project that he shares with his brothers is developing according to two stages, the first of which is to multiply the worm, so that it has a sufficient number for the second stage, in which the organic fertilizer is produced for the crops in the required quantities.

He mentioned that the fertilizer produced in limited quantities has been applied so far within lands cultivated with seasonal vegetables, according to a studied fertilizer formula, as it gave promising results, revealing his ambitions to expand to reach 200-300 thousand worms in the first stage and 500 thousand worms in the second stage.

Such small projects, as Al-Ali explained, do not need large financial costs, as the price of one worm is currently 200 pounds, and investment and multiplication can be made according to the available capital, stressing the importance of creating a system to adopt such projects and expand them due to their importance in serving the agricultural process and achieving an abundance of fertilizers instead of importing them. .

He pointed out that this experience is added to another work he does with the participation of his brothers, which is washing and sterilizing clothes and furnishings, a project that provides between 15 to 25 job opportunities for young people.

In a related context, the young woman, Ruaa al-Najjar, from As-Suwayda recorded a successful experience by cultivating oyster mushrooms, taking advantage of her academic information as a student in the College of Science, explaining that she sought to implement this experiment after theoretically learning it at the university, so she searched for an agricultural consultancy that meets her desire to promote an economic project that supports her living situation.

She said she started the project with the support of the Nour Relief and Development Association, which provided her with seeds, fertilizers and raw materials.

Roaa hopes, after reaping the fruits of its first crop, that its project will gradually develop and expand in order to have the opportunity to market large quantities of it, stressing that will and determination are the basis of any successful work after acquiring the scientific knowledge necessary to complete it.
