China is not only a lucrative sales market for car manufacturers.
More and more manufacturers are also building their electric vehicles in China and delivering them all over the world from there.
Now Tesla is following suit.
In December, Tesla
opened its own plant
in
China
.
The
gigafactory
in
Shanghai was
actually supposed to
only produce for the Chinese market.
Now the plant is to
supply its electric
vehicles for the demanding markets in
Europe
.
Munich - The People's Republic of
China is
developing into one of the leading locations for the production of e-cars.
Now
Tesla
is also there
with its plant in
Shanghai
.
The Californian e-car pioneer plans to ship its Model 3 from the Chinese giant factory to Europe from the end of October.
So far, the
Model 3 has
come from the
Tesla plant
in
Fremont,
California
.
The target markets include ten countries, including
Switzerland
,
Italy
,
France
- and the mother country of automotive engineering,
Germany
.
That comes from an announcement, the
Tesla
published WeChat on Monday on the Chinese platform.
Other manufacturers are also increasingly relying on China for the production of e-cars.
It wasn't until the end of September that the first fully electric

rolled off the assembly line
at the
Shenyang
plant
.
A joint venture between
BMW
and the Chinese company
Brilliance China Automotive is
behind the plant
.
Tesla
only started up its plant in the Chinese port city last December.
With the new
Gigafactory
, the group initially aimed at the booming Chinese market - with success.
In the past few months,
Tesla
had
sold around 11,000 vehicles per month in China.
"The support of the Chinese government, innovative local companies and the great interest of customers in new technologies make China the most attractive market for e-cars," said
Tesla
.

Tesla: New battery partner for Model 3
Now the first cars are to be exported.
The Model 3 from Shanghai for export should have a range of 468 kilometers.
Just a few days ago,
Tesla
lowered the price for the Model 3 in China by the equivalent of around 3000 euros.
The step was taken in connection with a change in the supplier of the battery cells.
Instead of
LG Chem
, the Californians are now apparently
relying
on their close partner Contemporary Amperex Technology (
CATL
).
The largest Chinese battery manufacturer is currently building
a new factory
in
Arnstadt
near Erfurt.
It should primarily
supply
BMW
.
According to reports, the company, which was only founded in 2011, plans to invest around 240 million euros in its new location in Thuringia.
Tesla
itself is currently building a plant in
Grünheide,
Brandenburg
.
According to the plans, the first vehicles should roll off the assembly line there as early as next summer.
