Cohesion and joy in music, these are the cornerstones of the Isentaler Schalmeien-Express Dorfen.

Dorfen - "More than ever, these cornerstones have been tested for stability over the past few months," says chairwoman Sonja Eberl.

"In March 2020 the Corona Lockdown came.

No more rehearsals, appearances were canceled by the organizers, no meeting within the framework of the association and the anxious question: How will it go on? "

And it went on.

In painstaking detailed work, with the help of all players and in compliance with all Corona requirements, it was possible to produce a small music video in May, which was presented on social media pages and on the homepage.

“In June, after the regulations in the restaurant sector were relaxed, it was possible to meet in smaller groups for the first time.

But a trial run was not yet an option, ”says Eberl.

The previous sample room was simply too small to adhere to all the requirements and to create a coherent hygiene concept.

Sports halls were also not available, as these were reserved for their own clubs or schools and therefore outside people were not allowed to enter.

"So the idea was born to move the rehearsals outside," says the chairwoman.

But where can you find enough space to set up 25 men in a corona-compliant manner?

The Isentaler Schalmeien-Express went to the Dorfener Anzeiger and received many offers for rehearsal locations due to the article “The forgotten of the crisis”.

And on July 7th, after a mandatory break of 16 weeks, the first rehearsal took place in Wampeltsham with the Nussreiner family in the orchard.

Due to the availability of rehearsal spaces, the shawms could come together to make music on a weekly basis.

Whether in the castle courtyard in Haag, in the courtyard of the Döllel family in Unterseebach, with the Stockschützen in Steinkirchen or in the large garden of the Sloboda family in Oberdorfen.

"Everyone involved was having fun everywhere, and there were quickly onlookers as listeners", says music director Manfred Eberl, and adds: "Of course, always with a safe distance." The first requests for performances were received with pleasure, acceptances were, except dry ones Weather and enough space or distance.

“So it was possible to give a small open-air concert in September in front of the Wartenberg Clinic and in the garden of the Marienstift Dorfen.” The audience on the balconies were happy about this little change after the difficult months without events.

"Unfortunately, the time for outdoor rehearsals is now over, and the shawms are again faced with the problem of having enough space to rehearse," said the game master.

A temporarily empty hall in Esterndorf was made available to them at the moment.

If all goes well, by the end of the year.

How things will go next year is uncertain.

But even here Sonja and Manfred Eberl are certain: “The Hauffa fits together, the Hauffa hoit together.

And that's why it's always going on somehow. "Anyone who can support the Schalmeien, whether with a possible rehearsal location, fellow players, performance requests, memberships, donations or sponsoring, should contact us at vorstand@isentaler-schalmeien.de, or at Tel . (0 87 62) 6 39 96 81.

The Schalmeien-Express can also be seen soon on television, namely on Monday, October 26th, at 9 pm on BR in the film "Experience Bavaria - Around the Gatterberge" (we reported).

The musicians were filmed last year at the market square and again when they moved into the Dorfener Volksfest.
