A bus carrying more than 20 Guatemalan army soldiers crashed into a truck at kilometer 173 of the Atlantic Highway in Aldea Lobo Gualán, Zacapa, about three hours from Guatemala City.
The accident left at least 3 soldiers dead and another 20 wounded, Army spokesman Colonel Rubén Tellez confirmed to CNN.
Tellez indicated that one of the soldiers died at the scene, while the other two died during the transfer to hospitals.
14 of the injured are seriously, 6 of them require intensive care.

The injured were transferred by the Departmental Municipal Firefighters to the Regional Hospital of Zacapa where they are treated with different injuries.
The army spokesman reported that the members of the army were heading to San Juan Sacatepéquez to participate in an exercise at the Polytechnic School, where they would support the cadets who are in training for officers.
The Guatemalan Army reported this Tuesday that the Caravan 360 aircraft configured as an ambulance landed at the Guatemala City Air Force, where they transferred the first 4 wounded to continue their treatment at the Military Medical Center.
