The report describes that the discovery was made when Mexican national guards made tours of the streets of the Fundo Legal neighborhood, municipality of Nogales, and found loose soil that covered a wooden lid.
When conducting an inspection, they realized that there began a tunnel that had an entrance diameter of 50 centimeters, with a depth of two meters and a length of three meters in Mexican territory and seven meters in United States soil.
After the discovery, the elements reported to the Attorney General of the Republic of Mexico and the United States Border Patrol to coordinate more investigative actions at the site.
