Cyprus, Egypt and Greece affirmed the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing their condemnation of any illegal foreign military presence on its territory.

During a press conference, the Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades gathered with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis after their meeting in Nicosia, the three leaders stressed that the solution to the crisis in Syria is political according to UN Resolution 2254 based on respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Cypriot president made it clear that the three countries condemn the illegal practices of the Turkish regime in the eastern Mediterranean, Libya and Syria, which undermine regional stability, calling on Turkey to respect the sovereignty of countries in accordance with international agreements and to stop its expansionist practices.

In turn, the Egyptian President reiterated that his country rejects any illegal foreign presence on Syrian soil, calling on the countries that support terrorism to stop doing so, and stressing the need to preserve Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Al-Sisi pointed out that the discussions between the three countries reflected a consensus of views on regional and international developments, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean region, and it was agreed on the need to address the provocations that destabilize the region, and to coordinate with international partners to take the necessary measures to preserve national and regional security.

He said, "We affirmed the redoubling of efforts to combat the phenomenon of terrorism decisively and the intolerance of states and entities that support it. He urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in confronting those who sponsor terrorism and provide them with a safe haven with various aspects of support."

For his part, the Greek Prime Minister stressed that Turkey is pursuing an expansionary policy that threatens the region in flagrant violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, which undermines regional security, calling on the European Union countries to stop selling arms to Turkey.
