Germering has been able to call itself Fairtrade City since November 14, 2016.
Just in time for the fourth anniversary, this award has now been extended for a further two years.

- The Fairtrade City specifically promotes fair trade at the municipal level and is well networked with actors from civil society, politics and business through the steering group.
In order to achieve the goals, the steering group meets once every three months and organizes events together with the city.
As part of the fair week in September, for example, lectures were organized with the adult education center and successfully carried out despite Corona restrictions.
From the point of view of Mayor Andreas Haas, the city, as a responsible municipality, is setting an example for fair trade: “We are delighted to be holding the title of Fairtrade city again for the next two years.
