The General Manager of Hama Steel Company, Eng. Abdel Nasser Mishaan, revealed that the General Company for Iron and Steel Products in Hama had sold since the beginning of this year until the end of last September a quantity of 32562 tons of billet, the raw material for iron production, amounting to 24 billion and 106 million pounds, while the company's production of billet reached During the same period, 32,286 tons were sold.
Mishaan stated in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that as a result of the lack of scrap material, the wasted blocks in the company’s yards for many years, which amounted to 1,300 tons, have been taken advantage of, as they were processed within the furnaces and used in order to secure the necessary needs for production.
Mishaan pointed out that the company continues to supply scrap from the public sector, according to the minutes of the agreement with the Syrian Committee for Minerals and Investment to load the scrap and transport it to the company from various public sector institutions in the Syrian governorates, indicating that the amount supplied to the company of scrap is not sufficient for the needs of work in the three shifts.
