"Reise" is the name of the third CD by the Benediktbeurer songwriter Christian Jungwirth.

The 30-year-old deals with the journey through life and has written very in-depth texts for the new work.

Benediktbeuern - "I want to make music to make people think," says Christian Jungwirth.

He doesn't do light music.

“With me, people should feel feelings and find themselves.” Jungwirth's third album is entitled “Reise” and deals with the journey through life, from childhood to old age.

It's about birth, love, family and death.

Jungwirth came second at the Geretsrieder Liedermacherfestival in 2014 and was able to record his second CD as a reward, before he had recorded his first album himself.

The 30-year-old, himself a father of two young daughters, has also written three children's books (series “Skunk and Bear”) (we reported).

"Music is my outlet"

He wrote the songs for the new album “Reise” over the past few years.

"I am actually a closed type and find it difficult to open up to someone," says Jungwirth about himself. "But music is my outlet." Jungwirth writes and sings in Bavarian.

He dedicated the ballad “Sonnastroi” to his youngest daughter Anastasia, the song “Pumperlgsund” is for the older daughter Ida.

In “Seelenverwandt” he deals with love.

“I write in the evening when I have some peace and quiet,” says the young family man, who works as a laboratory technician at Roche in Penzberg.

He has ideas everywhere, including driving a car or gardening.

Having a band is “not his thing,” says Jungwirth.

He makes music to "bring out what's inside of me".

Cooperation with the Tölzer Bananafishbones drummer and music producer Florian Rein

Some of Jungwirth's songs are thought-provoking, such as “Reise”.

It is about the suicide of an elderly couple.

“I wasn't looking for this topic, it came to me,” says Jungwirth, describing the creation of the piece from 2019. At first he kept it in a drawer and didn't dare to play it to anyone.

The text gets under your skin a lot.

Some people have heard it by now.

“The response is positive.

The topic moves people. "

In the song "Keks" Jungwirth describes an old man who is waiting in the retirement home for his family to visit.

He had bought extra cookies for that.

But the family does not come.

This last phase of life is also a topic that preoccupies the Benediktbeurer.

"Of course you think about how you will feel later in life."

Sebastian Schwarzenberger from Lenggries can be heard as a guest musician

The Tölz music producer Florian Rein worked his way through the songs with Jungwirth and accompanied them musically.

Sebastian Schwarzenberger from Lenggries can also be heard as a guest musician.

Jungwirth is very pleased with how the third album is developing.

It was launched a few days ago.

According to Jungwirth, it will be a while before the audience can experience him in concert.

"I don't expect gigs until 2021."
