Minister of Community Advancement, Orly Levy-Abacis, has since become part of the right-wing camp after the election, becoming a focus of relentless attacks and slander by left-wing voters, who have been disappointed by its conduct.
They called her a traitor, stealing votes, and constantly slandered her and the government file she holds.
Now she is telling her version.
It was not she who stole the seats she received and transferred them from left to right, she says, but quite the opposite.
"After the first election in which Gesher did not pass the blocking percentage, I wanted to retire," Levy says in a special interview with "Israel Hashavua."
"But Amir Peretz did not give up and really started chasing me. He would sometimes come to my house at one in the morning, send me messengers, and even come to the family vacation in Sde Nehemia in the far north and try to convince me to run together. That's how the connection with the Labor Party happened."
"We have agreed that Gesher is an independent party in every way. We are not talking about political issues but only social issues. Everything is authoritative so there is no room for interpretation."
Levy says that "the connection with Meretz was not supposed to be. Things were done behind my back. It was done contrary to my position. Amir Peretz also did not want to. There was pressure from Meretz and elements within the Labor Party put tremendous pressure to do so. Probably with the aim of ousting Amir "The only thing that convinced me to stay was because Amir came to me and said, 'They are washing me. I need you with me.'
According to Levy, "The day after the election, we were supposed to disband. That's what we agreed on. We had to come to the Knesset committee and announce the dissolution of the partnership. It did not happen. I came to Amir Peretz and said to him: What about the dissolution request? He started smearing me. "M.
I said to him: If you have changed your mind and are not falling apart I want to know about it.
He did not answer.
In the end, it was I who submitted the application. "
Levy accuses her attackers of misogyny and racism.
"In the end, those who violated the election promise not to sit with Netanyahu are Bnei Gantz and Blue and White, Amir Peretz, Itzik Shmuli, Zvika Hauser and Yoaz Handel. But the most cruel attacks are only on me."
According to Levy, "I was accused of lying. But where is your responsibility towards society? What is allowed for those people who sold their opinions and promised not to sit with supporters of terrorism, I am not allowed? Who is the hypocrite here? Who is the liar?".
Levy criticizes her role in the government and says that "ignoring the objective difficulties that accompanied the formation of this government, I am proud to be able to promote important issues for the public. It's quite a bit. In advanced countries like England and more, there is a Minister of Community Affairs. Whoever does not understand the power of the community in building the face and future of society, does not understand what the power of the individual within a group.
