SANA's reporter toured some villages of Tal Kalakh countryside and monitored the process of preparing farmers for their fields to plant strawberries, as farmer Khader Al-Ali from Jebq village confirmed that years ago he started his project by constructing one green house and now he has six houses in which he works in addition to his university studies, indicating that he chose to plant strawberries due to a decrease Its costs compared to other crops grown in greenhouses, such as tomatoes and cucumbers.

Ibrahim Al-Ahmad, from the village of Talsarin, stated that strawberry cultivation has spread widely in the Tal Kalakh area, and that the farmers of his village, ten years ago, have devoted themselves completely to this cultivation, and it is now the main source of income for the majority of families.

Youssef Al-Ali farmer explained that he owns 50 plastic houses, all of which he grows with strawberries, and he markets all production outside the governorate, as does a large number of people in the region who switched from growing tomatoes and cucumbers to strawberries due to the low costs and high financial returns in addition to the fact that they do not need large areas of land.

Muhammad al-Hassan showed that the strawberry planting takes place at the end of September and extends to the end of October, while production begins at the beginning of December and continues until June, i.e. about six months, and this provides job opportunities for the people of the region, whether in agriculture, harvesting or marketing, indicating that it is done Spending all production outside the governorate, especially to Damascus, through a group of marketing centers spread in the region.

For his part, Omar Ubaid, Head of the Tal Kalakh Agriculture Department, confirmed that the strawberry crop has now become the first crop for the region’s farmers as a winter crop that provided good job opportunities for the people of the region and secured a rewarding financial income, pointing out that there are several reasons that contributed to the success of its cultivation, the first of which is the appropriate cold climate in addition to the cheap financial cost of Seeds and seedlings of strawberries are taken from last year's season.
