That was close: a dog almost drowned in a bunting in Oberammergau.
But the fire brigade rushed to help.
Oberammergau
- He's thirsty.
Just want to drink a little water.
Then the misfortune: An elderly Golden Retriever mixed breed - 13 years old - stumbles on the bank and falls into the water at the transition from the Kolbenbach to the Ammer.
The water is deep.
“A beaver dammed the stream at this point,” explains fire brigade commander Stefan Maier.
The four-legged friend can no longer get dry on its own.
The dog is in mortal danger.
The master of the half-breed, also an elderly man, cannot get his friend out of the brook despite all his efforts.
Since the Oberammergau resident does not have a mobile phone, he walks along Ammerweg to the village to call the fire brigade.
Maier and his colleagues react immediately.
They ask the colleagues of the Grainau water rescue service for support.
Twelve fire brigade comrades dash in several vehicles to the point where the senior last saw his animal.
The golden retriever has disappeared.
The fire brigade comrades and the four water rescuers fear the worst.
The firefighters let a drone rise.
On your screen you search the section between Kolbenbach and Ammer meter by meter.
After about an hour, finally a sign of life from the four-legged friend.
Half-heartedly he escaped to the bank, found support on the reeds, exhausted.
The rescuers are with him quickly.
Soaking wet, but well, the firefighters hand the dog over to its overjoyed master.
A happy ending.
