In Peru, 27 of the 130 congressmen presented a new vacancy motion on Tuesday against President Martín Vizcarra.

This is the second time that congressmen do so, pointing out the president's alleged immoral incapacity, from which he has defended himself.

The measure came after it was revealed that four aspiring effective collaborators told prosecutor Germán Juárez that Vizcarra allegedly received illicit payments when he was governor of Moquegua, between 2011 and 2014.

The head of state publicly denied having received any money from the construction companies mentioned in the tax investigation.

If the motion is approved by Congress, the vacancy debate must take place between the third and the tenth day after admission.

Prosecutor Germán Juárez, a member of the Lava Jato Special Team in Peru, opened a preliminary investigation against President Martín Vizcarra for the alleged crimes of aggravated collusion, improper passive bribery and illicit association to commit a crime, a source close to the case confirmed to CNN.

In this regard, the president stated in a television program that his administration respects the independence of powers and that it will abide by what the Public Ministry determines.

The Legislative Power already tried to remove Vizcarra in mid-September for the Richard Cisneros case, where the president was accused of lying and trying to obstruct an investigation into possible corruption, but the necessary votes to approve the vacancy were not reached.
