Mayor Max Gotz spoke of a corona-related "extremely declining trade tax revenue" on Tuesday evening at the citizens' meeting in Altenerding (see also the report above).

That will have consequences for the entire city policy.

All voluntary services would have to be put to the test.

Altenerding - Gotz reported that they had expected 31.3 million euros in trade tax for this year.

In the supplementary budget, this amount had to be corrected down to 12.5 million euros (we reported).

He put the current volume at 13.6 million.

The amount still includes around 25 deferrals totaling almost 400,000 euros.

These would be due in 2021.

The situation is very fluctuating.

The OB reported that two companies had completely waived rent of around 1,600 euros for two months.

55,000 euros will be taken less, because this year the city has exempted the city center gastronomy from the lease for the open bar space, which has been enlarged from 1,100 to 1,800 square meters.

The federal and state governments compensate for the failures - but only this year for the time being

In Gotz's opinion, Erding is facing difficult times financially.

This year the federal and state governments would largely compensate for the loss of trade tax with a nationwide amount of 2.8 billion euros.

But he anticipates very difficult years in 2021 and 2022. “The next generation and the next but one will have to pay off the debt tower,” prophesied Gotz.

The pandemic shows that "we acted correctly and with foresight by building or modernizing schools and day-care centers," said Gotz.

“We can take a deep breath now.” The CSU politician showed little understanding for the criticism of the new parking fees at the Kronthaler Weiher.

These are very moderate.

"The free beer mentality must now be over," said Gotz.

Many expenses are not taxable

With regard to the budget, the mayor made it clear that many expenditures cannot be influenced.

The operation of the six elementary schools and two middle schools cost 3.6 million euros.

Every day costs 9,900, each child 1990 euros per year.

In addition, there would be investments of 6.2 million euros, especially for the general renovation of the middle school on Lodererplatz.

At the daycare centers, the maintenance costs are 4.8 million euros and 3300 euros per child.

Gotz put the road maintenance - a total of 162 kilometers - at 850,000 euros.

Street lighting costs 550,000, cleaning 490,000 euros.

In addition, there would be almost 18 million euros in personnel expenses.

The city is investing 3.5 million euros in the new town hall in the current year alone.

According to the OB, spending on health, sport and recreation add up to 4.7 million euros.

The largest single items are the new triple hall in the Geislinger Ängern and the parking lot at the Kronthaler Weiher.

The town hall gets a good million euros.

In 2020, the city will incur total construction costs of almost 30 million euros.

"This makes us one of the major investors and makes a significant contribution to strengthening the domestic economy," emphasized the mayor.

Nevertheless, the debt is extremely low: 1.1 million euros - per capita just 29.21 euros.
