The French health authorities announced a record death toll from Corona for the first time since the outbreak of the virus.
Reuters quoted the French Ministry of Health as saying in a statement that 41,622 new cases of the virus were recorded during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections throughout the country to 999043.
The ministry indicated that 162 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 34,210.
It is noteworthy that the French government imposed a curfew on 46 million citizens as of last Friday in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus in the country.
