France exceeds one million total cases

France has surpassed one million total COVID-19 cases, according to data published by the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Coronavirus Resource Center.
At 10pET on Wednesday, JHU reports that France has a total of 1,000,369 known cases of covid-19.
It is the seventh country in the world to report more than one million cases.
Spain reported more than a million cases early Wednesday.
The United States, India, Brazil, Russia, and Argentina lead the world in terms of the largest number of known cases.
The known death toll from coronavirus in France is 34,075, according to JHU.

More than 62,000 cases in the US on Wednesday

The United States reported 62,735 new COVID-19 cases and 1,124 virus-related deaths on Wednesday, according to the Johns Hopkins University case count.
To date, at least 8,336,031 cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in the United States.
At least 222,176 people have died.
Totals include cases from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and other US territories, as well as repatriated cases.

Brazilian senator dies of covid-19

Brazilian senator Arolde de Oliveira died on Wednesday of complications related to covid-19, according to a statement posted on his official Twitter account.
He was 83 years old.
Oliveira died of a multiple organ failure caused by covid-19, the statement said.
He had been hospitalized for more than 15 days in Rio de Janeiro, according to CNN affiliate CNN Brasil.
Oliveira is the first member of the Brazilian Congress to die of coronavirus.
Oliveira, a conservative senator from Rio de Janeiro state with close ties to President Jair Bolsonaro, served in Congress for more than 35 years.
He was in his first term in the Senate after being elected in 2018 and had previously served nine consecutive terms in the lower house of Congress.
The state of Rio de Janeiro declared three days of mourning, according to a government statement.

Germany reports record daily coronavirus cases

Germany reported a record number of daily coronavirus cases on Thursday, according to the country's center for disease control, the Robert Koch Institute.
The authorities have registered 11,287 new cases in a single day.
Germany reports a total of 392,049 cases, reports the Robert Koch Institute.
Germany also reports 30 new deaths attributed to the coronavirus, for a total known death count of 9,905.
On Wednesday, German Health Minister Jens Spahn tested positive for coronavirus, the minister's office told CNN.
