(CNN Spanish) -
The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE, for its acronym in English) confirmed this Wednesday through a statement that they are already implementing the policy of accelerated deportations of undocumented migrants who cannot prove that have been in the country for a period of at least two years.
Through the measure, immigration authorities will have the possibility to order immediately, and without prior presentation to an immigration judge, the removal of undocumented migrants.
Unaccompanied minors will not be affected by this policy.
"Our ability to implement this important tool will allow us to protect our communities and preserve the integrity of immigration laws," said Tony Pham, an official who serves as the director of ICE.
The agency adds in the statement the accelerated deportations will help prevent "dangerous criminals from entering the communities."
