Armenia on Wednesday ruled out any “

diplomatic solution

” with Azerbaijan in this conflict, against the backdrop of hitherto unsuccessful efforts by the international community to negotiate a lasting truce.

The head of state had already participated in a mediation on October 17, alongside Russia and the United States, which resulted in a promise of a ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan which was quickly violated.

The Russian president said Thursday that the death toll since the resumption of fighting at the end of September between Azerbaijan and Armenian separatists in Nagorno Karabakh "is

approaching 5,000

".

The Minsk group, which brings together Russia, France and the United States, is trying to work for "

substantial negotiations

" but which require "

a peaceful climate

", recognized the Elysee.

France has decided to send medical aid to the injured, details of which will be specified in the coming days, adds the French presidency.
