What was already indicated a few months ago is now apparently becoming a reality: The municipality of Peiting is about to purchase the youth center building in Lorystraße. What was already indicated a few months ago is now apparently becoming a reality: The municipality of Peiting is about to purchase the youth center building in Lorystraße.

This would mean that the planned and controversial new building on the green meadow on Jägerstrasse would finally be off the table.

Peiting

- Mayor Peter Ostenrieder had already brought the purchase of the old house into play in April.

The sad cause at the time was the death of Maria Hoffmann, who owned the building.

In 1989 the doctor made her former practice rooms available to the community for the youth center, where the facility is still at home today.

Ostenrieder contacted the heirs, but they referred to the probate proceedings and asked for patience.

The foundation administrator and the municipality agree on the purchase

The formalities have now been clarified - with good news from the market town's point of view.

In an interview with the Schongauer Nachrichten, Ostenrieder said that the house and property were donated to a foundation fund at the request of Maria Hoffmann, with the condition that it be used for youth work.

And what could be more suitable than keeping the youth center in place?

The administrators of the foundation's assets apparently thought so too.

“We have reached an agreement on a purchase”, the mayor can confirm with satisfaction.

Half a million euros are earmarked for the purchase in the supplementary budget

Last Monday, an appraiser was already on site to determine the value of the approximately 1900 square meter property including the residential building and practice extension.

In the supplementary budget, on which the Peitinger municipal council will decide in the next meeting next Tuesday, half a million euros have already been earmarked for the purchase, says the mayor.

Of course, the local council still has to approve the deal, but Ostenrieder is optimistic that the committee will go along with it.

After all, a purchase has several advantages for the community.

The controversial new building on Jägerstrasse would be off the table

The most important one: The previously planned new building of the youth center on the corner of Jägerstrasse and Kampfgartenweg would no longer be necessary.

The project is considered controversial, many residents ran storm against the plans, even handed over a list of signatures to the community.

Your concern: The youth center would increase the noise and traffic pollution in the neighboring residential area.

At the current location, however, according to the town hall chief, there are no problems with the neighbors, and the location speaks for the facility to remain in Lorystraße, says Ostenrieder.

"That is the better solution."

Especially since the large property has a lot of potential.

It is possible to renovate the existing buildings as well as demolish and build a new one.

What makes more sense must be examined more closely, said the town hall chief.

So far the large garden could not be used by the youth center either, that will change with the purchase.

From Ostenrieder's point of view, the fact that the house is currently still rented is not a problem.

The renovation or new construction is to begin in 2022 at the earliest

Another advantage from the community's point of view: The time pressure would first be eliminated through the purchase.

So far, the lease stipulated that it would expire two years after Maria Hoffmann's death.

The alternative new building should have been implemented quickly, so 1.5 million euros were already earmarked in the budget for 2021.

The market could save that for now, which would relieve the community bag in the Corona crisis.

The project is now expected to be tackled in 2022 or 2023 at the earliest, the town hall chief dares a cautious forecast.

Of course, the final decision is made by the municipal council.

A report that has now been presented to the local council shows how things are going with the everyday cycle path network in Peiting.

The result is not surprising: there is still a lot to do for the community to make switching to bicycles more palatable for citizens.
