In order to relieve the area around Baumgartenstrasse from traffic, the municipality now wants to introduce a passage restriction on a section.

Holzkirchen

- It is particularly bad in rush hour traffic and "with beautiful mountain weather", knows Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU).

Then it accumulates in the area around Baumgartenstraße, which commuters and day trippers like to use as a secret route when it comes to a standstill on the parallel Tölzer Straße.

In any case, the area is heavily loaded with traffic.

Because elementary and middle school, indoor swimming pool and underground parking are located here.

Local residents suffer from the strain.

The Holzkirchen Transport Committee has now turned again to a traffic concept for Baumgartenstrasse, Burgstallerstrasse and Holzstrasse.

To end the misery, the committee decided at the end of June to improve the 30 km / h zone in the area (we reported).

Nobody was really satisfied with the solution.

“I didn't like that very much,” said Schmid now.

The passage blockade for motorized traffic, which the majority regarded as a more effective solution, did not work at the time - because the fire brigade had previously vetoed it.

She feared that the comrades would not get to the station quickly enough by private car if an alarm was raised.

In July Schmid spoke to the fire brigade and police again and was able to present a solution.

This was presented by market builder Florens Hintler.

According to Hintler, only a small section of 45 meters on Baumgartenstrasse is to be closed to motorized traffic.

The area between the southern edge of the Batusa parking lot and the corner of Wilhelm-Leibl-Straße.

“This way, the parking lot of the indoor swimming pool could still be approached from the north.” The advantage: The entrance to the underground car park would remain freely accessible.

In practice, the blockade should be identified on the one hand by the traffic sign 260, which indicates a ban on motorcycles, mopeds and other multi-lane motor vehicles.

"Underneath are the signs that regulate the exceptions".

According to this, emergency vehicles and buses should be free and still be allowed to drive through.

According to Schmid, this also applies to firefighters who “drive to the station in their private car after an alarm.” That was precisely the crux of the original discussion.

On the other hand, the municipality wants to mark the closure by narrowing the lane - but in such a way that rescue workers and buses can still get through.

First of all, no permanent structural measures are being considered here.

More mobile and temporary solutions.

“Maybe flower boxes,” says Hintler.

In this way, the “prominent construction site for the new construction of the middle school”, which, according to Schmid, is expected to start in autumn 2021, can also be taken into account.

So that the large construction site vehicles can get through, the community can simply put the flower boxes away again.

In addition, some committee members wanted to try out the blocking "as a test" for the time being, as suggested by Torsten Hensel (FWG).

“So that nothing is set in stone.” And readjusted if necessary.

Albert Kraml (CSU) nevertheless tended to optimize the 30 km / h zone.

"It will take ten years for people to suspect that things will not go on there."

Schmid, however, believes in “faster learning effects”.

Anita Gritschneder (Greens) - who liked the lock - suggested that the regulation be reported earlier, preferably on Tölzer Strasse.

Josef Sappl junior (CSU) emphasized: "I do not believe in the closure." He fears an even greater traffic collapse.

Kraml worried about the residents, who were only allowed to drive in from the north.

Hubert Müller (FWF) nodded: The population from the southeast could then no longer drive directly to the indoor pool.

Karl Bär (Greens) asked about the mood among the residents.

According to Schmid, half is for and half against the blocking.

But all solutions have a pros and cons.

“I can only offer this as an idea.” In the end, the committee recommended by a majority to the local council that the decision of June be repealed and that the passage restriction be implemented.

The CSU voted against it with three votes.
