Serious accident on the A94: construction site causes slow traffic - driver overlooks the end of traffic jams
Shortly before the Markt Schwaben junction, traffic came to a standstill due to a construction site when a 45-year-old Hungarian professional driver drove his pickup truck head-on to a Lithuanian articulated lorry that was stuck in a traffic jam.
The 45-year-old van driver was trapped in his vehicle in the collision and had to be rescued by the fire department.
A helicopter landing at the accident site took the seriously injured driver to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the semitrailer was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, slightly injured.
Rescue takes hours - autobahn blockade causes long backlogs
The two vehicles involved resulted in total damage of around 20,000 euros.
The lane was closed for about three hours to rescue the vehicles, which resulted in a long backlog.
To secure and clear the scene of the accident, emergency services from the Anzing, Poing fire brigades, the Hohenbrunn motorway maintenance authority and the THW Munich were on site.
