Donald Trump and Joe Biden will meet this Thursday night in Nashville, Tennessee for their second and final debate before the presidential election, on November 3.
Of the greater or lesser influence of these crosses in the electoral results, up to doctoral theses have been written in the United States, but it is difficult to determine the weight of this: more than 42 million Americans have already voted, according to the Associated Press data, and there are very few undecided, but in a polarized time like this, victory is reached by small margins, and a handful of decisions change the outcome.
The first debate, on September 29, became such a rude and chaotic spectacle that the committee that the organizers have decided to change the way it works and, at least during the initial presentation, silence the microphone of those who do not have the turn to speak. word to let the rival give his speech without incident.
In this segment, each candidate will have two minutes per thematic block, but from there, in the replies and rejoinder, the disorderly fight of the first time can be repeated, in which the Republican president cut the Democratic candidate so many times that he He came to blurt out: "Are you going to shut up, man?"
Trump is a television creature, a
reality
TV savvy
and a badass debater.
Biden, despite the stalemate of 50 years of political career, is not particularly good at it, as was seen during the Democratic primary, and he transmits less energy than his opponent.
The Democrat should focus attention on the pandemic, which has already caused more than 222,000 deaths in the United States, and to which Trump has responded erratically, downplaying and even contravening the guidelines of his own experts.
The Republican, on the other hand, should divert attention elsewhere.
The debate, which will begin at 9 p.m. (Washington time), will include questions about the coronavirus, the situation of American families, racial tension, climate change, national security and leadership.
According to the US press, Trump plans to attack Biden for his son Hunter's business in Ukraine, where he was in the pay of a major gas company when the father was Obama's vice president.
There have never been indications of any illegality, beyond the criticism that the signing caused by conflict of interest in his day, but the Republican is trying to associate the Democrat with corruption, in the same way that he did his day with Hillary Clinton, to the one who spent the campaign calling "Hillary, the corrupt one."
Biden, for his part, will try to single out Trump as a permanent crisis agent.
The appointment reaches 7.5 percentage points of advantage in the national average of polls (50.6% compared to 43.1%, according to Real Clear Politics), but the country that four years ago saw Trump win with the polls in against will not be pending tonight of those numbers, but of the screen.
