Police today (Friday) arrested a 28-year-old resident of the Occupied Territories, who is suspected of committing indecent acts on minors in the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The investigation was opened following reports that reached the police during the week about cases of a person committing indecent acts on minors in the Jerusalem neighborhood.

During his arrest, the suspect tried to escape from the police and was arrested at the end of a foot chase.

He will be brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court later today for a hearing on extending his detention.

Meanwhile, police arrested Mu'ataz Hassarma, a 32-year-old Acre resident who is suspected of sexually harassing young girls via Instagram and WhatsApp while impersonating a young man named Adam.

Hassarma used to send the girls sexual content and even asked them to send him intimate pictures, after which he coordinated a meeting with the girls in their hometown.

The investigation was opened following a complaint filed by the mother of a girl living in Afula, after noticing the sexual content on her home phone.

Immediately upon filing the complaint, an investigation was opened from which it emerged that the suspect may have harassed dozens of victims.

He was arrested by police detectives in the city of Afula and later, at the request of the police, the Magistrate's Court in Tiberias extended his detention until Monday, November 13.
