(CNN Spanish) -

Like every Friday, Dr. Elmer Huerta answers the questions you ask him through his Twitter account @Drhuerta.

In this episode, we answer the questions about when you can get COVID-19 if you were in contact with someone who tested positive.

We also clarify whether we are more susceptible to infections now that we are not so exposed to viruses and bacteria.

In addition, we explain if you are at risk of becoming infected on a flight and if people with diabetes, hypertension and HIV can receive the covid-19 vaccine, among other questions.

You can listen to this episode on Spotify or your favorite podcast platform or read the transcript below.

Hello, I am Dr. Elmer Huerta and this is your daily dose of information about the new coronavirus.

Information that we hope will be useful to take care of your health and that of your family.

Today we will answer some questions that we have been asked on our Twitter account @Drhuerta.

@drhuerta doctor my consultation aerosols are also like cigarette fumes, the aromas of perfumes and also of foods that are more common in closed or small environments

- Julian Vargas llaza (@vargasllaza) October 22, 2020

That's an excellent comparison, Julian.

Aerosols are submicroscopic liquid particles that measure less than 100 microns.

As a comparison, the diameter of a hair is around 70 microns on average.

These particles - which contain the virus - are dispersed in the air like the examples you have given and are the main mode of transmission of the new coronavirus.

Doctor Huerta sorry for bothering you could help me if people with anxiety and schizophrenia are people with comorbidity. I appreciate your answer because I have a daughter who suffers from anxiety and a schizophrenic son

- Albert Saenz (@ AlbertSaenz18) October 21, 2020

Good question, Albert.

No. Mental health disorders are not conditions that increase the risk that a person infected with the new coronavirus could become complicated.

Age, chronic heart and lung disease, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes are some that are.

And an HIV + in treatment can receive the vaccine against Covid 29?

- Mary Hernandez (@ MaryHer52520576) October 21, 2020

Excellent question, Mary.

People who are HIV-positive and are being treated with antiretroviral drugs can - and should - receive vaccines.

For example, they can be vaccinated against hepatitis B, human papillomavirus, influenza or flu, meningococci, pneumococci, tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis.

The only vaccines that are not indicated are those that use live attenuated viruses, such as chickenpox.

None of the possible covid-19 vaccines that are being tested contain live attenuated viruses.

Sinopharm's Chinese vaccine contains inactivated viruses and could be used.

However, I recommend that you consult with the doctor who sees the patient.

With so much extra health care, we have been less exposed to viruses and bacteria than ever, are we not "cooling" our natural immune system?

@drhuerta

- Rodrigo between the lines (@Rodri_GonzalezR) October 21, 2020

Excellent question, Rodrigo.

I don't think that happens;

our immune system is always ready to function, so the fact that we are not so exposed to pathogens will not cause our defense system to "cool down" as you say.

I am sure that when faced with a virus or bacteria, the immune system will react immediately with efficiency.

@drhuerta Hello, how much minimum time has to pass from the possible contagion to test positive by PCR?

That is, is it possible to test positive by PCR in less than 24 hours after infection?

Thank you!!

- rebeca alonso (@ rebeal78) October 20, 2020

Good question, Rebecca.

The PCR or molecular test begins to be positive when the virus begins to multiply in the respiratory tract of the infected person.

This can occur from the third to the fifth day after infection.

@drhuerta hello doctor, if today I was in contact with someone who is positive, from the same day I start to spread?

- matias moreno (@yojamita) October 19, 2020

Good question, Matías.

In the first place, it would be necessary to accept that you have been infected, something that could happen if you did not use a mask and if you were with the infected person for more than 15 minutes.

If you did catch it, you will begin to spread it to others when the virus begins to multiply in your airways, usually two to three days before symptoms appear.

How much risk is there to get on a plane for at least a four hour flight?

- Hidalgo (@ Hidalgo17498535) October 19, 2020

Good question, Hidalgo.

Respiratory infection on an airplane is a rare event, but it can occur.

This is because the air exchange system in the plane is very efficient.

An alternate form, as we saw in the September 8 episode, is possible infection from touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.

doctor could answer this question a person with diabetes and hypertension can be vaccinated please answer me urgently

- Albert Saenz (@ AlbertSaenz18) October 18, 2020

Hi Albert.

Of course you should get your shots.

What's more, you must receive them because you belong to a risk group that can be complicated.

Good morning Dr I had the virus but I had no symptoms.

I only had the igm in great 1.50 then it got off and it was as if it had never given me left nehativo.

You can explain that to me

- Angelica Saboya (@ AngelicaSaboya3) October 15, 2020

Good question, Angelica.

That's normal.

IgM is the first immunoglobulin produced when infection occurs and its life is short;

it does not last more than two weeks and is replaced by immunoglobulin G, which can last several weeks.

@drhuerta I got infected with the Hong Kong flu in 1977. Can I have immunity against covid19?

- Ricar Trigueros (@TriguerosRicar) October 15, 2020

Excellent question, Ricar.

Unfortunately, having what the WHO called the 1976 swine flu will not protect you against the new coronavirus.

Remember that immunity is specific;

that is, it is directed only against the virus that attacks you, not against others.
