2020-10-23T17:10:15.742Z

The head of state said Friday that the hypothesis of local reconfinements was studied from the deconfinement, last May.

After a visit on Friday afternoon to the René-Dubos hospital in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise) to “

discuss with the teams

”, Emmanuel Macron spoke to the press to discuss the coronavirus epidemic in France.

Asked about the hypothesis of a reconfinement, the president assured that it was

"too early to say whether we are going towards local or broader reconfigurations"

.

We will evaluate the effectiveness of the measures taken every week.

At least until early December we will have everything that has already been announced by the government.

And these measures are certainly not intended to be reduced but are intended to be strengthened if they are not sufficiently effective,

”warned the Head of State.

If the measures were to be strengthened, they would be in two ways, announced Emmanuel Macron.

"

Either by expanding geographically

", as announced Thursday by the government with the extension of the curfew to 38 new departments and Polynesia, "

or by looking at the places, the times when the epidemic is spreading the fastest to reduce these opportunities every time

”.

"

We will try to do it in the most targeted way,

" promised the tenant of the Élysée.

"

Local reconfinement

"

Emmanuel Macron said that France has been in anticipation for several months already.

"

We prepared the deconfinement between April 13 and May 11 by having different scenarios and immediately by committing to potential strategies of reconfinement

", he recalled.

The scientific council had presented and prepared targeted response strategies to a second wave.

We have prepared these scenarios which can go as far as local reconfinement

”, he added.

According to the president,

"we have no other choice but to slow down and reduce our social life as much as possible, to limit contacts to break"

the circulation of the virus.

"If we want to protect our health system, we have to do that"

, he admitted, adding that according to him, the best solution to get rid of Covid-19 is to have a "

stabilized vaccine-treatment pair

”.

But the vaccination policy cannot be put in place too early.

"

We can think that we will have more visibility at the end of the first quarter of 2021. If you want an effective vaccination strategy, you have to be sure to vaccinate between 20 and 40% of the population,

" said Emmanuel Macron.
