A group of indigenous people from the Misak community protested this Thursday inside and outside the El Dorado International Airport, in Bogotá, Colombia.

According to a statement from the air terminal, members of the indigenous community entered and protested peacefully.

“All measures were implemented to control the impact of the protest on the safety and well-being of airport users.

So the operation was not affected at any time, ”the airport explained in a statement.

Videos of the protest show some indigenous people carrying signs inside and outside the airport.

While others are seen performing dances, songs and musical interventions.

The Movement of Indigenous Authorities of the Southwest criticized the Colombian government in a statement.

And he affirmed that the protest took place "to generate processes that summon the unity of the social, popular, ethnic, student, union, urban and rural sectors against war policies."

At around 5 p.m. local time, the protesters moved entirely outside the airport.

A few hours later, according to the Ombudsman's Office, an agreement was reached with the protesters to vacate the El Dorado area.

Days ago, some 7,000 indigenous people arrived in Bogotá from the department of Cauca.

To denounce the murders against several of its members, massacres of civilians and to request protection from the national government and more social investment in the region.
